Assistant Professor Department of Biological Sciences

St. Edward's University invites applications for a Terrestrial Ecologist/Plant Biologist to serve as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, beginning August 2021.
Responsibilities
- Teach and develop core classes in the new Environmental Biology and Climate Change degree (https://www.stedwards.edu/undergraduate/environmental-biology-and-climate-change), including Environmental Conservation & Climate Change and Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
- Develop and teach elective courses in the same degree;
- Ability to teach Terrestrial & Plant Ecology and Population Biology & Ecology preferred.
- Advise students and engage in service;
- Develop a successful research program involving undergraduates and compatible with resources available at a primarily undergraduate liberal arts institution. Utilization of the J. T. Mills Greenhouse, the Wild Basin Research Center or other local field sites is strongly preferred.
- Curate living and preserved collections in the greenhouse and herbarium.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biological Sciences required.
- A strong commitment to and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and training undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
