School of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education

St. Edward's University is seeking an Assistant to the Dean. The Assistant to the Dean performs any combination of advanced level routine administrative duties for the Office of the Dean. Responsible for supporting the Dean in meeting teaching, research, service missions, and external relations of the University. Responsibilities for this position include support of the University's academic programs and initiatives and facilitating the interaction of the Dean with campus, system, and community members

QUALIFICATIONS: Required education high school diploma or equivalent, preferred bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, and at least three years of progressively responsible administrative/executive level management support experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Must possess excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skills. Must possess an unencumbered driver's license and the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check


  • Supervise and perform various day-to-day departmental administrative functions. Processes all office correspondence, reports and meeting documentation for completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures.
  • Manage the Dean's calendar; coordinate projects, events and communication of information from the Dean's office, such as conferences, workshops, faculty and staff retreats, Division meetings, awards and any other special events as they arise. Provides information and assistance including responding to sensitive requests for information and assistance; researches information and policies; assists the students, faculty, staff, vendors or visitors.
  • Participates in the collection, compilation, and analysis of information from various sources on topics related to assigned programs; participates in the preparation of reports that present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations.
  • Oversee outreach activities for the Dean and the School via digital media.
  • Other duties as required.
