St. Edward's University is seeking a RESTRICTED FUNDS ACCOUNTANT I. Under the direction of the Controller, the Restricted Funds Accountant performs accounting functions such as ledger maintenance, journal entry postings, complex analyses, and reconciliations to include, but not limited to: grants, endowments, loan funds, financial aid, and other general ledger accounts. The Restricted Funds Accountant ensures accounting activities are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles. The Restricted Fund Accountant will also analyze financial and operating data and prepare management reports and financial statements, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant work experience of at least one year in an accounting role is required. Experience in higher education is preferred. Skill in developing and using complex spreadsheets. Ability to evaluate and analyze financial data, research accounting issues, and recommended solutions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work with minimal supervision and comply with internal and external deadlines. Non-profit and fund accounting, FASB, GAAP, government grants, federal financial aid, external audits and single audit experience is preferred. Must possess the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.


Federal, State and Private Awards:

  • Monitors budgets, expenditures, adjustments, and collections of funding on weekly basis
  • Prepares fringe benefit and indirect cost allocations for grant awards on a monthly basis
  • Initiates invoices and billing for awards on a monthly basis
  • Provides accounting support to the Office of Sponsored Programs


  • Prepares endowment and restricted fund accounting to ensure proper classification
  • Aids in the designation of new endowments within the general ledger

General Accounting for Restricted Funds:

  • Maintains records and performs filing duties within University's designated storage platform
  • Prepares and maintains bank and clearing account reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Prepares journal entries as necessary
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reconciles balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Provides annual audit support by interpreting transactions, preparing worksheets, and analyzing accounts as necessary
  • Assists with preparation of consolidated financial reports and preparation for and execution of the annual financial statement audit
  • Supports department as additional assignments arise
