Research Technician

 

Overview

St. Edward's University seeks to fill the position of Research Technician.  This position will support grant-funded projects in the Department of Biological Sciences. The funds to support this position are dependent upon continuing successful grant proposals. This is a 12-month, 30-hr/wk. benefits-eligible position (grant-funded).  At present, the position would support the research grants of Dr. Andrea Holgado in the area of Molecular Neuroscience.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform scientific research in Molecular Neuroscience using the model organism C.elegans
  • Maintain lab equipment and help ordering supplies
  • Ensure delivery of data to funding agencies, national and international databases, and the SEU Data Archive.
  • Assist with data analysis.
  • Assist with project planning.
  • Engage in regular group research meetings and assist with mentoring of student research group members.
  • Assist in training of new research group members and collaborators on instrument operation, repair, and calibration.
  • Assist with report and manuscript writing, including generating appropriate figures.
  • Travel to partner sites for training if necessary.
  • Additional responsibilities as necessary to support currently and future funded grants.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences required.
  • Prior experience operating laboratory equipment required.
  • Skills with word processing software and spreadsheet software required.
  • Prior experience with C. elegans handling preferred.
  • Successful Candidate must complete an employment and/or criminal history background check.
