Assistant/Associate Professor of Operations Management

The Bill Munday School of Business at St. Edward's University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position in Operations Management to begin in Fall 2018. The position on the faculty of The Bill Munday School of Business will be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with salary depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to teaching Operations Management, the successful candidate will take a lead role in developing and teaching a variety of courses in operations management, project management and supply chain management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Qualifications:

As the school pursues AACSB accreditation, applicants must have the following credentials:

 

  • A Ph.D. or DBA in Management with primary concentration (18 credit hours) in Operations, Supply Chain Management and/or Logistics or a certification in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, and/or Logistics. Doctoral degree must be from an AACSB-accredited college of business program. Tenure-track status requires a degree completed by August 2018.
  • A demonstrated record or strong potential for scholarship in peer reviewed publications.
  • Ideal candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to produce research and excel in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Candidates should have rigorous training in simulation, and/or optimization. Research interests and experience in data-driven decision-making applied to operations, sustainability, and/or supply chain management are desirable. However, candidates with other research interests will also be considered.
  • Basic understanding of AACSB 2013 standards and practices.
  • Evidence of excellent teaching potential is required.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with and commitment to working with a diverse population.
  • Prior teaching experience and business industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with online instruction preferred.
  • Interest in our university's global initiatives preferred.
  • Successful completion of a criminal and/or employment background check required.

 

Job Responsibilities:

St. Edward's University is regarded as a teaching institution and regards teaching as central to the mission. The teaching load is a 4-4 (total of 8 courses per academic year) with teaching reassignment for scholarship. Courses are delivered face-to-face or in hybrid format.

  • Advise undergraduate students.
  • Interact with local, regional, national, and international business, nonprofit, government, and community representatives to develop applied service learning projects and study opportunities for students.
  • Develop new courses and curriculum as requested.
  • Participate in assessment of student performance in the discipline.
  • Maintain commitment to social responsibility in the classroom setting in line with the University's mission.
  • Maintain an active program of quality research leading to refereed publications in the teaching field.
  • Meet School and University service requirements through participation on committees.
  • Fulfill other required faculty responsibilities as outlined in the St. Edward's University Faculty Manual.
