Adjunct Teaching Position
Mathematics Department

Adjunct faculty appointment to teach one to three face-to-face sections of College Algebra, Precalculus, and/or Quantitative Reasoning (a general education course for non-majors) during the fall semester of 2018, at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX, with possibility of renewal.


  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in mathematics.
  • An advanced degree in mathematics education or a related field will be considered if the applicant has at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics courses.
  • Strong professional commitment to undergraduate education in mathematics is expected.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for excellence in classroom teaching.
  • Successful candidate must complete an employment and/or criminal background check.

Responsibilities include teaching one to three face-to-face sections of College Algebra, Precalculus, and/or Quantitative Reasoning. This entails following a common syllabus, utilizing online homework (WebAssign or MyMathLab) and learning management systems (Canvas), holding one on-campus office hour per week per section, and keeping in contact with the course coordinator, primarily by email, for common assignments and exams. Class size is generally 24-30 students; compensation is $3774 per 3-credit course section.
