Associate Director of Digital Engagement

The Office of University Advancement seeks to help every member of the university family make a significant impact on the St. Edward's mission through gifts of time, talent and treasure. On June 30, 2017, we celebrated the conclusion of a ten-year, concerted effort to effectively engage alumni, students, families, and friends philanthropically. Key highlights of the "Opening Doors" campaign included: volunteers gave more than 20,000 hours; 14,000 donors provided more than $100.7-million, more than half of which was for scholarships; leadership donors set a record with 440 President's Associates (donors giving more than $1,000 in a given year). Looking to 2022, the university envisions every St. Edward's student exploring transformational pathways to knowledge, experience, understanding and achievement. To help advance this vision, four teams within the University Advancement Office development, alumni and parent programs, data and information services, and constituent relations and communications are collaborating to engage and inspire current and next-generation philanthropists.

The Associate Director of Digital Engagement, is part of a team of three charged with securing gifts annually for The St. Edward's Fund. These operating gifts provide critical support for academic programs, scholarships, and co-curricular programs that support student development. Specifically, the Associate Director of Digital Engagement is charged with developing, writing, designing and implementing fundraising appeals and programs for social media and E-Communications that will increase alumni participation in The St. Edward's Fund, develop next generation leadership; and improve young alumni engagement and participation. The position reports to the Director of Annual and Individual Giving. The Annual Giving office is part of the Development Team in the Division of University Advancement.


  • Develop and implement innovative, effective and comprehensive strategies to support and complement direct mail fundraising campaigns and University
  • Advancement division goals.
  • Develop and implement stand-alone fundraising appeals, including writing and design, for social media and E-Communication with the goal of increasing alumni participation in The St. Edward's Fund.
  • Manage the university's crowdfunding platform to deliver campaigns directed by the annual giving office, such as "Love Blue Give Gold," as well as provide support to advancement colleagues and campus partners and assess and evaluate the viability and suitability of student-led campaigns.
  • Enhance The St. Edward's Fund's social media presence by developing new dedicated accounts and managing established accounts.
  • Liaise with Constituent Relations team to develop content for monthly stewardship emails and other appropriate stewardship touches designed to improve donor retention.
  • Collaborate and confer as necessary with colleagues in Marketing, Development, Constituent Relations, Alumni and Parent Programs, and other users of the university's social channels.
  • Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media and E-solicitations, and analyze, review and report on effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, English, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in managing digital and social media communication: including planning, content development, analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent writing, editing, presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience planning and executing email marketing campaigns using industry standard tools (such as Imodules, Emma, Mail Chimp, etc).
  • In depth knowledge of most common social media platforms.
  • Successful candidate must complete and education and/or criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere.
  • Experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing.
  • Experience with photo and video editing
