Creative Lead

The award-winning St. Edward's University marketing office delivers innovative and integrated marketing programs including reputation management, brand management, recruitment and retention marketing. We communicate the St. Edward's experience to increase awareness of the university, support recruitment and retention goals, and empower the university's brand advocates.

The Creative Lead focuses on the development and execution of projects that demonstrate a consistent and compelling university brand and transform marketing strategy into experiences that connect our audiences to our brand.

This role reports to the Associate Vice President of Marketing and works closely with the entire marketing team, as well as colleagues across the university to fully understand our audiences and deliver compelling, engaging and effective creative.

The Creative Lead is instrumental in fostering collaboration between the marketing directors, a creative services manager, a creative services coordinator, print and digital designers, content manager, photographer, videographer, as well as agency relationships.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Cultivate creative innovation and a strong, consistent brand identity for the university.
  • Clearly articulate a creative vision to achieve our marketing objectives.
  • Transform our marketing strategy into experiences that connect our audiences to the St. Edward's University brand.
  • Explore, define and champion customer experience principles.
  • Manage diverse relationships as a supervisor, colleague and peer within the marketing office and across the university.
  • Bring ideas to team members who deliver print, email, website, video and social media content as well as jump in to to help execute projects, improve outcomes and meet deadlines.
  • Foster an environment of teamwork, brainstorming, problem solving and streamlined project delivery.
  • Collaborate effectively as one of five supervisors in the marketing office.
  • Generate solutions and present new concepts through effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field and a minimum of five years of strategic creative experience
  • Proven experience as a thinker, creator and builder who can also lead and inspire a team
  • Demonstrated understanding of of diverse creative projects including print, digital, photography, and video
  • Knowledge of the latest marketing technology trends and best practices
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and content management systems
  • Ability to articulate aesthetic and visual design principles and how they meet marketing goals
  • Exceptional communication skills including written, verbal and presentation
  • Ability to proactively provide solutions to business challenges and align strategically with other university roles
  • Understanding of user-centered design methods, information architecture, usability, interface and interaction design
  • Flexible, versatile, learner; open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks
