Staff Psychologist
Training Coordinator
Commensurate with experience

The Health & Counseling Center (HCC) is seeking a clinician to provide counseling and mental health services, as well as campus outreach, to university students. This position performs professional client care through individual, couples, group, and crisis counseling. The individual selected for this position will serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team. This position will comply with the professional requirements of the HCC and St. Edward's University policies and procedures, as well as all State and Federal professional legal requirements. The individual selected will also serve as the Training Coordinator for the HCC and focus on managing the training needs and support trainees of the clinic. The HCC is part of a vibrant and growing university community and is dedicated to supporting the healthy development of the whole student. We seek an enthusiastic and collaborative colleague who is interested in contributing to the growth of students, the department, and the university as a whole.


  • Short-term counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups.
  • Initial assessment and treatment planning.
  • Discharge planning and referrals to appropriate resources on and off campus.
  • Crisis intervention, including rotating after-hours on-call duty
  • Administration and coordinating of training program, including oversight of our practicum training program for masters and doctoral level trainees, as well as ongoing development of training programs
  • Establish positive working relationships with training programs in the area for recruitment of training program
  • Communicate through list serves to gather information and research best practices for training programs
  • Provide/coordinate training opportunities for trainees and HCC staff to advance the knowledge on various mental health topics
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Maintain files accurate and all records generated from group program.
  • Must be able to work well with supervisor, coworkers, the University community, and the public.
  • Providing training or supervising graduate practicum students.
  • Consultation to university departments, staff, and faculty.
  • Participation in university Strategic Priorities and Student Affairs initiatives.
  • Occasional evening and weekend duties.
  • Other related duties as assigned.



  • Doctoral degree/ABD in counseling or clinical psychology with an APA-accredited internship.
  • Licensure in Texas at the time of hiring.
  • Successful experience providing counseling to young adults ages 17-26.
  • Experience in mental health case management, crisis intervention, and community programming.
  • Knowledge/training in multicultural issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a brief, psychotherapy approach.
  • Ability to work collegiately in a diverse, multicultural community.
  • Ability to work congruently within the mission of the university, division, and department.
  • Successful candidate must complete employment and/or criminal history background check.
  • A working knowledge of HIPPA and FERPA.
  • Sensitivity to confidentiality, diversity, and multicultural issues.


  • Doctoral degree/ABD in counseling or clinical psychology with an APA-accredited internship.
  • Licensure in Texas at the time of hiring.
  • 3-5 years of experience in providing culturally competent services for clients who identify as Hispanic.
  • Training or experience working in a university counseling or health center.
  • Experience as a mental health trainee supervisor
  • Bilingual, ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge and experience with SPSS, outcome assessment, and data analysis.
